SPEAKER PROFILE

Prior to retirement Ian Waller was a professional genealogist with over 30 years experience in English research. He is currently Chairman of AGRA (The Association of Genealogists and Researchers in Archives) the body which represents professional genealogists throughout England and Wales.

He is a Fellow of the Society of Genealogists and has published several books in the Society’s “My Ancestor” series including My Ancestor was an Agricultural Labourer, My Ancestor was a Mormon, My Ancestor was in the Royal Navy and My Ancestor was a Leather Worker.

He has taught Family History at both basic and advanced levels at various adult education centres in Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire and currently lectures and runs workshops at many family history societies, U3A Groups and other organisations interested in local, social and family history. His other interests include oil painting, making scale models of horse drawn vehicles, country and Celtic music and digital /video photography.

HOW TO BOOK A TALK

 All talks/workshops can be booked initially by e-mail or telephone. I am available for both daytime and evening talks.

FEE: £55 plus travel costs. Fees for workshops are proportionately more and by negotiation.

I will require a screen or good blank wall on which to project as all talks are Power Point based AND you should also provide an extension lead with TWO sockets. Please advise if your venue has projection facilities into which a laptop connection can be made. Wi-Fi internet access is not usually needed.
